Fear – What is it?

Janet – So cool!

I’ve had dreams involving alligators and talked to others about them. I believe such are almost universal symbols represent the objects or problems we fear we are faced with and fear.
I’ve found the best way to understand dream objects is to reflect upon the feelings that I had while seeing them. Undoubtedly I felt fear when I saw these alligators.
In my dream I seemed to find an alligator at almost every direction I turned. In fact at the time, I could name several different significant problems that I felt were present and just waiting to happen.  It was very easy to name almost as many problems I was facing as alligators I saw.
Now as to fear –  Fear is always a function of the unknown and how we deal with the unknown. There are at least three beliefs working in conjunction when fear (an emotion) is experienced. A fourth is also present but not always obvious until our fear causes us to take action:
  1. We’ve identified something we believe we desire – our ‘precious’.
  2. We’ve identified something we believe is a threat to that ‘precious’.
  3. We’ve identified an expectancy belief; that a treat to the precious is imminent.
  4. There is also a 4th often overlooked – We’ve identified a ranking belief. Ranking beliefs determine our focus of attention, action and I believe affect physical manifestation as well.
We compare all our options for action. We rank them against each other. With every threat, we also identified a belief of how this threat ranks with others. We decide beliefs as to which ones have the greatest potential for adding to, or stopping the loss of our current value fulfilled status.

    • With fear of imminent treat to our precious, the potential to save us from loss is just as important as finding a way to add value fullfillment to our lives. Recall, a dollar saved is as good as a dollar earned.
    • Our rank beliefs determine which actions we take next.
  5. Of course there are many other beliefs involved besides these. Others were involved in deciding what we desire which are usually based upon discerning a preference (so there are preference beliefs and beliefs of value, beliefs as to what we value and why?), deciding what is a threat, deciding the potential of the threats or opportunities considered with each of our options compared in ranking.

… Pretty soon we realize all are beliefs about reality are involved with everything we do.   In fact our reality ALWAYS and ONLY ever reflects what we decided we believe.

We just need to RealizeIt to BelieveIt to ExperienceIt
