They say; Charity is the giving of oneself?<\/strong><\/p>\n

In years past I spoke with many that express high value for altruism while adamantly denying they do it for themselves. They were\u00a0so strongly invested and\u00a0attached\u00a0in\u00a0their position, it was\u00a0hard to even engage conversation. \u00a0They spoke as if the mere admission of a self serving motive would constitute\u00a0some kind of anathema.<\/p>\n

The\u00a0mere association with self-service was so detrimental to what they highly value that\u00a0they appear prohibited or\u00a0unable to\u00a0even ask themselves if their charitable pursuits\u00a0bring them any personal fulfillment. It was as if their charity must be unfulfilling or it would NOT be charity; that they must have suffered or\u00a0they could\u00a0consider their pursuit successful.<\/p>\n

In regards to\u00a0hardship, they\u00a0have no problem discussing the difficulties\u00a0they endure for their charitable acts. They speak\u00a0that\u00a0the\u00a0giving of their last mite is much more highly valued than their giving thousands from\u00a0any\u00a0abundance. We also see the\u00a0corollary, that\u00a0poverty is preferred over an abundance from successful living. Such seems to be entwined with and a key part of the meaning of\u00a0charity.<\/p>\n

There is certainly some underlying belief that trumps the recognition of personal value enrichment on operation. \u00a0What is it? Have I\u00a0developed\u00a0similar limiting beliefs anywhere? If so, it is crucial that they be identified as such are very detrimental to a valued fulfilling life.<\/p>\n

I recognize there are always\u00a0strong underlying beliefs behind emotional demonstrations. I recognize that to get such emotive responses, there have to be\u00a0belief of\u00a0potential threat to something highly desired.<\/p>\n

The most I am able to understand is that they are adamant to reject recognition of personal benefit because association with benefit and\u00a0being in a state of having personal abundance\u00a0negates them from gaining this something<\/em> they value even more.<\/p>\n

They are uncomfortable with discussion, because they fear even discussion may change the situation so as to\u00a0cause them to lose their\u00a0highly valued “precious<\/em>“.<\/p>\n

It seems\u00a0quite a contradiction in light of my discoveries; quite a paradox.<\/p>\n

To get a better understanding of their individual\u00a0belief\u00a0and to better understand this kind of belief paradox, let’s summarize what we have found and note what our intuition might discover reading\u00a0between\u00a0the lines so to speak. \u00a0Let us reconcile\u00a0what we heard and what we know of value fulfillment and personal motivation?<\/p>\n

The following was observed. I will next simply identify the knowns without judgement or trying to correct\u00a0what I\u00a0think is wrong or better:<\/p>\n
