Not so Hidden Beliefs

We’ve already discussed the difficulties of knowing what one truly believes. We often can not tell what is believed until we analyze the actions we take. We’ve discovered this works because we’ve realized we always act according to what we believe. We can identify what we believe by observing how we act. We can discover our beliefs even when we have not  consciously recognized them previously.

Most of us form our beliefs based upon what we’ve physically experienced and ignore considering thoughts as real until we have physically seen or otherwise experienced their physical characteristics. The beliefs that form experienced reality can be identified by looking at how a person describes reality and more importantly: how a person describes experiences of reality.

Since believed thoughts attract, we can also tell what is believed by looking at what’s been attracted.

Lets look at what can be discerned through examining experience. What do experiences tell of belief?

Souls have a purpose and are always on a mission. We can identify our soul’s mission by observing the kind of obstacles we are attracting, or if you prefer, the kind of activities and experiences we gravitate toward.

Fears

Fears lurk within many of our experiences. We can easily discover what we fear by examining what we are thinking during our fearful experiences. We can discover what we value as every fear contemplates a threat to something we value.  We can also discover how we believe other objects act and the powers they hold as every fear contemplates an extern object or force acting with a degree of power sufficient to threaten what we value.  Fears also reveal what we think of the vulnerability of what we value.

We always take action based upon our beliefs. Beliefs are behind every action. We initially act on threatening thoughts by worry. In worry we invest enormous energy thoughtfully considering all of the possible ramifications to the threats we perceive according to our beliefs. Thoughts of fear reveal many beliefs, even core beliefs that we long ago decided true. We merely need to look beyond the threat and ask how, what and why we feel threatened.

Not only does a fearful experience tell us what we believe is valuable (being threatened), but a fearful experience tells us how we believe our “precious” can be diminished by the threat.   Fear shows us what we believe CAN threaten us; that external objects can affect our values. Fear shows us that we believe WE or our values are vulnerable to those external objects.

Soul perspective

If you recognize you are a soul and not merely the body that the soul  formed and uses to sense physical creations, you know that any harm coming to your creation is NOT the same as harm to yourself.  Yet, if you consider yourself the mere body you possess and that all experience is affected only by the successful actions you take, then you likely feel most impotent, inferior and incapable against most threats. From the perspective of physical only, most everything appears threatening.

Soul explorations

Recognizing that our soul uses the body to experience physicality, our physical experiences become soul explorations intended to bring discovery of value fulfillment and self empowerment.   With a correct belief regarding our multidimensional nature and the eternal validity of our soul, we sing a different song: Destroy this body, I’ll just get another one!  No longer is life so precious that we think it must be purchased at the price of slavery to tyranny.  No longer does fear hold us captive. This IS the gospel and was good news Jesus taught! The last enemy to overcome IS death!  Death is overcome when it has no sting.

Fears Story

There are many types of fears and each tell their own story of how we perceived or experienced the events of our past. Ainslie MacLeod in his book: “Instruction”, identifies 10 categories of fear which are quite insightful to consider. What does each fear tell you of beliefs formed and the interpretation given to past events experienced?

  • The fear of Loss
  • The fear of Betrayal
  • The fear of Intimacy
  • The fear of Rejection
  • The fear of Self-Expression
  • The fear of Authority
  • The fear of Inferiority
  • The fear of Powerlessness
  • The fear of Failure
  • The fear of Death

Each speaks of a type of past experience, a perception of limitation and inferiority. Premises falsely perceived and of beliefs incorrectly concluded as limiting. All fears have limiting beliefs behind them and hold an obstacle perspective which is but an imagined illusion misinterpreted from the events encountered. These false premises, taken as true, become the obstacles accepted as belief.  These damn the natural flow of our personal being.  Limiting beliefs are false as they always regard the unlimited potential of our being and the infinite potential of “All in all” as limited, vulnerable, inferior!  Limiting beliefs feel of unworthiness, guilt and inferiority and all damn the enjoyment of your potential.

The purpose of life

All beliefs of limitation destroy faith as faith acts on beliefs of the possible.  Limitations are obstacles to faith and life. Once we hold them as true to our reality, they become our soul’s primary target and mission to overcome. Because obstacle beliefs damn our progress, value realization and the fulfilling life, they have to be conquered before we can accomplish the other value fulfilling discoveries on other side of them.

Ultimately our soul’s mission and the driving purpose behind all consciousness is that each might experience and enjoy life to the fullest, through value fulfillment eternally. Our universe is safe and eternally improving. All the forces of the universe are aligned to make it so.  Believe it!    Realize it!

In the next article, we’ll discover how our soul brings events into our lives so that we might overcome the beliefs of limitation.  If we are willing to use our focus and believe in these realizations before the physical challenges appear, we will short circuit many of the painful lessons and realize the goal of early graduation.  We can audit the soul’s course by satisfying the requirements through advance preparation.
